Zenzo Siamenda was born in 1977 in Zimbabwe. The artist’s talent was recognised when he was a young child; he went on to study at the well known Mzilikazi Art and Craft Centre, Bulawayo, a city with a vibrant artistic community and home to a branch of National Museum of Zimbabwe. He decorated pottery for a time before transitioning to painting on canvas. In his paintings, Siamenda uses bright colors to depict lively daily scenes with pictographic and cartoonish details, showing every day activities of people the artist observes. Siamenda’s style reflects the rich and diverse decorative, craft and painting styles of his country as well as an affectionate view of the women in his community. We are very pleased to present new work by this enterprising artist.
