Artist, writer and journalist Sara Farag Elkamel was born in 1990 and is highly respected for her journalistic skills, insight into politics and representation. She uses both the written word and paint to express her interest in the world. Elkamel studied Mass Communication at the Ahram Canadian University, Cairo and is a graduate student at Columbia University, New York. The artist and thinker is interested in topics like cultural power and resistance as well as media depiction of the “other.”
A highly insightful mind, Elkamel has a view into the world of Egypt unlike any other, analytical, aware and revelatory. Her artwork is equally engaged in contemporary life, and includes painted collages with English texts, a commentary on the fleeting nature of life, and one’s sense of security, status, identity and nationality. We are delighted to have examples of Sara’s visual work on view, and for sale.
