Rigoberto Peláez was born in Cuba in 1973. A self-taught painter, sculptor and draftsman renowned for his stately landscapes, the artist works plein aire. Peláez’s work shows a fondness for rural life, as well as a romantic view of the grandeur of nature. In Peláez's work, we see high viewpoints, panoramic compositions, the rendering of ephemeral elements such as light, mist and clouds, wrapped majestically through classically structured images.Peláez’s heroic landscapes reflect the history of pre-Avant garde Cuban art, in particular the tradition of landscape painting such as Eduardo Morales y Morales (1862-1938), Augusto Chartrand Dubois (1828-1899) and José Joaquín Tejada Revilla (1867-1943). The artist lives and works in Havana, Cuba. The extraordinary technical skill on display in these works makes the paintings a welcome addition to any collection, and the high quality of each work means the paintings will retain their originality and stand out value for years to come.
