Luigi Rocca was born in 1952 in Porpetta, Italy. Regarded as an imaginative realist painter, Rocca is an artist whose work has recently earned international attention. He paints lifelike scenes of cities, his most famous of New York City. These iconic depictions of Americana are painted in true-to-life style, but with the character of the Pop Art Aesthetic of the famous American painter James Rosenquist. Rocca’s signature vision is highly contemporary with flattened areas of paint, reminding one of David Hockney. The artist participates in special events, projects and performances in addition to the gallery setting such as “In the Space of the Cross” organised by Melori & Rosenberg Art Gallery and the Parish of San Salvador, 2010, Venice and “Venice – Views on Ghetto.” Venice and Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa (2005). He has been honoured with multiple solo exhibits in the last five years including a number at M & R Gallery locations in Germany including Cologne, Hamburg, Hamm-Rhyern, Berlin and Sylt. Italy has long been the site of artistic creativity, and it is with great pleasure that we offer a careful selection of original works by this famed artist for our collectors, an iconic artist of the 21st century.
