Scenography artist, sculptor and painter Gamal Meleka was born in Cairo. Meleka is an internationally renowned artist, and has become a favorite of his adopted country Italy. The artist’s project Inside the Bar Code, commissioned by the famous philosopher and art critic Carmelo Strano was one of the 9th International Cairo Biennale Winners. An enterprising and engaged artist and intellectual, Meleka has been a key player in the development of cultural exchanges for the Academy of Fine Art of Brera, Milan. Works include diagrammatically painted landscapes, a lushness achieved through velvety layers of paint. The works we have on offer are a unique series, depicting iconic figures from Egyptian culture.The artist is a two-time recipient of the annual Art Prize, Mondadori Publishers; Europe Prize, Bormio; National prize, Natale Malinverni, Spessa Po; National Prize of the City of Santhia; two gold Medals, Martinsicuro, and is the 2011 winner for Best Italian Sculpture.
